In 1948, the state of Israel was founded. This event marked the end of centuries of Muslim rule in Palestine. Israel has since been involved in a number of wars with its Arab neighbors, but it has managed to maintain its independence. Today, Israel is a sovereign nation with a vibrant culture and a rich history.
